The Junk Drawer Club

(for people who keep every ticket stub )

Get matched with a penpal for snail mail swaps, show off your journal spreads, and grab a free printable every month. Come be weird with us.

How penpal swaps work

Swaps run in seasons, each with a theme. Sign up before the deadline, and Kylie does the matchmaking.

  1. Sign up

Pick your swap type, your style, and tell us a bit about you. City and state only, never your street address.

  2. Get matched

Kylie pairs you with someone whose vibe fits yours and emails you both. You each say yes before anything else happens.

  3. Make + mail

Once you both accept, you swap addresses privately. Decorate around the season's theme and mail it by the deadline.

  4. Share it

Got your happy mail? Post your favorite spread on the gallery wall so the whole club can swoon.

Pick your kind of happy mail

  • Letters

The easiest way in: a good old-fashioned letter, decorated as much (or as little) as you like. Perfect if you're new.

  • Ephemera packet

A little envelope stuffed with goodies: tickets, tags, stickers, scraps, washi samples. Junk drawer treasure.

  • Half-spread swap

The spicy one: you start a journal spread, mail it off, and your penpal finishes it. Two makers, one page.

This season's theme: Things that made you smile this year

Tiny wins, silly moments, a great cup of coffee, the stranger who complimented your shoes. Journal it, mail it, make someone's day.

    your club host

    Hii! I'm Kylie.

I junk journal, I keep way too many ticket stubs, and I share my apartment with 100+ houseplants. I started this club because the best part of journaling is sharing it, and nothing beats happy mail in your mailbox.

By day I build websites for small businesses at KYR Websites. By night, it's glue sticks all the way down.

See you in the mail! — Kylie

Sell your journals, stickers or ephemera?

Your shop deserves a home of its own, not just a listing. Kylie builds websites for makers and small businesses.

    For makers

    Good questions

    Is my home address safe?

Yes. The signup form only asks for your city and state. Kylie emails each of you privately about your match, and only after you both say yes does she introduce you, so you can swap addresses between yourselves. Your address never appears on this website.

    Who can join?

Anyone 18 or older who lives in the US. We'd love to go international in a future season!

I've never junk journaled. Can I still join?

Absolutely. Pick "Letters" as your swap type and tick "brand new" so you get matched with someone patient and friendly. Everybody starts somewhere.

What if my penpal never sends anything?

It happens, life gets busy. Let Kylie know, and you'll get priority for a new match next season. Folks who don't mail without a word may not be matched again.

How do I share my spread on the gallery wall?

Use the form on the gallery page. Kylie approves every photo before it goes up, and you can ask for it to come down anytime.
